@atomicaceso he's just packaged it up and sold it to the masses. That's fine...he can find whatever angle he wants to promote an academic career, and I actually respect that. But, boy, he's not selling rocket science. It's bread and butter psychiatry. Honest.
@atomicaceso doses that are available to order everywhere. There is nothing new, novel, special, or brilliant about this guy Horowitz and his clinic. Any veteran psychiatrist has been all over this for decades...back when he was a kid. He offers nothing new...
@atomicaceso HOWEVER, there are those who DO need it, and we have to accept that and work with them. So, we do smaller and smaller reductions. EVERYONE knows "the last milligram is the hardest", and so we respect this and get the job done. Usually by custom-compounded...
@atomicaceso I have literally been doing what he says from the time he was a goddamn high-school student...but only for the RELATIVELY FEW patients who need it. Common things are common... and MOST patients do not need prolonged or sophisticated withdrawal of these meds..
@atomicaceso Say what you want about Tyler, but what I can say is that Mark Horowitz has frankly contributed bugger-all to psychiatry. Honestly. I've been practising for 30 years, and his de-prescribing methodology is nothing new or novel...
@DrMcFillin Jesus, Roger, listen to yourself. Let's see: "no, sorry, mate, I don't believe you when you say you can't tolerate another minute of your pain and are not functioning at home...I know better...fuck off if you want a prescription". Yeah, that's the answer!
@matthewbaszucki Sorry, son, but miracles only belong in ancient religious texts. Think about it: how many top athletes and professional soldiers end up with serious mental illness. Hint: a lot. If the things you suggest are a panacea, this would not be the case.
@SyilxConnection Colonials only have debt to the extent that colonials decide they do. It can all change in one election, or one stroke of the pen. 5% of the population does NOT decide who owes what...never has, never will. And that's not "racism".
@guyfelicella There have been many studies, including by leftie professors at UBC, that conclude that Universal Basic Income is a very, very bad economic policy. And beyond that, no, sorry, I don't want my tax dollars taken from what I earn to go to a loaf.
@pashedmotatos Dunno what you mean about "main roads"...certainly bikes on highways are totally dangerous. But remember, when I see you out there on the road, that my bike is likely worth more than your car, and I pay far, far more property tax to maintain the road than you
@guyfelicella@jonkay@Dave_Eby Correlation isn't causation. But surely this can be taken as a modest signal to perhaps investigate further? Is there even a tiny chance that your own hypothesis about things is wrong, or at least subject to a small revision? Isn't this the nature of science?
