Recent geo-political and environmental events have proven that airlifters are an increasing necessity around the world.

Switzerland finds itself unable to properly face these threats due to the lack of suitable aircraft.

So I wrote an article arguing in favor of them.🙂🇨🇭✈️

The Kabul Airlift, earthquake in Haiti and wildfires across the Mediterranean are recent examples of future threats the world will face, and Switzerland is ill-equipped for these challenges.

With proper aircraft, we can be prepared to address them, both domestically and abroad.

Decided to give AI image generators a try, so I prompted Bing to "Add Swiss Air Force livery on a(n) [Airlifter Model]".

My favorite results for each of 4 aircraft (A400M, C130, C27J, C390). Happy for recommendations for other/better image generators.🙃

Yesterday,@BelgiumMFA and @BelgiumDefence bring stranded 🇧🇪 travelers from Tel Aviv 🇮🇱. A Belgian military ✈️ (#a400m) landed in Melsbroek with 105 passengers, including 92 🇧🇪 and other🇪🇺 citizens.

Der Schweiz fehlt es immer noch an Lufttransportkapazität.

Partnerschaften mit Fluglinien sind immer Plan-B & haben begrenzungen.

Österreich plant die Beschaffung von vier Embraer C-390 Millenium Transportflugzeuge als Ersatz für die drei C-139 Hercules.

Das C-390 erfülle als Einziges alle geforderten Fähigkeiten. Wird auch für Waldbrände einsetzbar sein.

Auslieferung in 2026/2027 erwartet.

The new jet is to increase🇨🇭capacity in evacuations, providing humanitarian aid, & diplomatic tasks (ex: support good offices).

The aircraft is to enter service in 2025 & will include a military radio system, a self-defense system & replacement parts.

On August 30, the🇨🇭Federal Council tasked the Department of Defence, Civil Protection & Sport (DDPS) w/ replacing the aged Cessna Citation excel 560XL w/ a Bombardier Global 7500, following an analysis for future development of the "Federal Government Air Transport Service".
