Per new bankruptcy filing, BlockFi has $227m in Silicon Valley Bank. The bankruptcy trustee warned them on Mon that bc those funds are in a money market mutual fund, they’re not FDIC secured — which could be a prblm w/ keeping in compliance of bankruptcy law
@phenrikand@OttoJacobsson@APRAinfo@BIS_org Retail banking have changed a lot since the 1980s, basel / capital adequacy has replaced simplistic 'cash reserve ratio' and aims to standardize globally. Adequacy also extends (inclusive) of cash reserves % of deposits beyond to equity.
@phenrikand@OttoJacobsson@APRAinfo All banks under Basel 3 would use a similar form of statutory disclosure, which shows how they calc capital adequacy ratio.
Agree from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, @BIS_org allows leeway for each regulator to specify liquid instruments.
Hope that helps clarify.
@phenrikand@OttoJacobsson@APRAinfo Here's an example of instruments reconciled against liabilities and equity. I chose a regional Australian bank disclosure as it illustrates nicely on 1 page:
@phenrikand@OttoJacobsson I thought capital adequacy was 4.5~8.0% and @APRAinfo has been known to impose additional reserve requirements if identified risks in GRC, has something changed?
@eddiecowan@Qantas When your org has become more expert at white label marketing than product delivery (in-house product included) the lack of product control really shows
1/Large language models like Galactica and ChatGPT can spout nonsense in a confident, authoritative tone. This overconfidence - which reflects the data they’re trained on - makes them more likely to mislead.
@paulwallbank@GregBris@GrogsGamut Given lack of choice, I imagine the disclaimer "if you have concerns, speak to someone" will result in the production manager explicitly marking on that reel not to use the footage. Still interested whether opt out vs opt in holds up in court - @CoffeeandaCase1 ?
@paulwallbank @shannonmrogers segue: this has so many interesting implications in court. Take Tiktokers, especially those who film unwitting participants in their "random hacks of kindness" for likes (is it non-monetary at face value or ultimately commercial?)
