You’ve heard a lot about Umar Khalid through the media. But amid the media witch-hunt against him, there has been very little space for him to speak for himself, especially since he’s spent the last six years in jail.
So I want to tell you a little about my friend Umar, in his own words, as shared with his family and friends.
Modi-Shah have crossed every line, but this is our democracy and we refuse to watch it die.
Marching to the Supreme Court because when the Constitution is under attack, the CJI cannot look away and call it politics!
yes, i am against the BJP, but calling this an emergency and comparing it to 1975 is unfair & unconstitutional. i mean sure there’s an internet shutdown, no right to protest, key protest figures being abducted, thousands of protesters detained in the middle of the night, even hundreds of supreme court lawyers and sitting MPs MLAs detained, trains & metros being cancelled and the entire state machinery being deployed against citizens demanding accountability but unless modi ji comes on tv at 8 pm and announces “mere pyare deshvasiyon, mujhe yeh batate hue bohot garv ho raha hai ki aaj se is desh mein emergency laagu kardi gayi hai,” how are we supposed to know??? 😭😭🙏🏻
Delhi Police walked into Gurudwara Bangla Sahib and dragged protesters out. Shoes on. Heads uncovered. Lathis out.
The same gurdwara that has fed and sheltered millions without asking who they are.
No govt has survived after sending troops into a gurudwara. Disgusting!
When you rethink about today, remember @neha_aisa marched WITH the people, deceived the police that was detaining anyone found BREATHING near Jantar Mantar for over an hour, and almost reached the venue before she was CHOKED while being detained FORCEFULLY.
That is how you lead. By example. Not diktats. Not shadow fights. Not statements.
Like i always say. WOMEN WILL LEAD THE REVOLUTION.
#India: We are concerned by reports of mass detentions of demonstrators, protest leaders, members of civil society organisations, lawyers and journalists, before and during today’s large-scale demonstrations in Delhi.
We call on the authorities to ensure that the right to peaceful assembly is fully respected and fulfilled.

Suddenly, the government has drones, facial scanning, high-tech surveillance and an extremely heavy police presence to suppress protesters But where is all this when it comes to women's safety??
Nobody should be killed for what they've said. Not for an insult, not for a joke, not for blasphemy.
If you support blasphemy laws, there is something deeply wrong with you and your upbringing.
That is not faith. That is not civilized. That is barbarism.
Advocating for barbaric laws and execution of a Hindu immigrant over hurting religious sentiments, while expecting your own rights, safety and freedom to be protected by secular laws when you’re a minority living in a secular, non Muslim democracy.
Today’s advisory for @DelhiPolice:
Don’t grope women.
Don’t assault women.
Don’t hide your name plates.
Don’t hide behind your uniform.
ACP Vivek Bhagat was caught on camera inappropriately touching a woman journalist.
Your uniform won’t erase what you did to women.
Delhi Police drags citizens on the streets of the capital!
History will remember you Delhi Police and whose side you were on, who you were trying to save and who you attacked!
Men who are whining over a slogan won’t even let their mother or daughter travel on public transport full of men at midnight. Deep down, they know how savage and dangerous a man can be.
Help women have equality. Help them have freedom... not just the essence of it.
ed sheeran’s opening acts pulling out of the tour is making me emotional, i honestly didn't see it coming. i hate that it’s always the smaller artists who put everything on the line, while those with nothing to lose because they’re already set for life remain spineless cowards
