Some people have been asking me which teams are getting selected for VCT 2027 and why I haven’t reported on it. I’m not really used to posting on Twitter, but enough of you have asked, so here’s a quick update.
May 29 was the deadline for organizations to submit their VCT applications.
On June 24, Riot Games removed a number of applications from the process, leaving only the strongest candidates in each VCT league. Even then, the remaining pool was (and is) still quite large considering there are only eight available slots.
From July 13 to July 31, the remaining organizations were going through interviews with Riot to present their VCT projects, as well as Riot Games’ due diligence process.
For now, I don’t think it’s possible to identify any favorites. It’s still too early for that. I know some of you have asked me about certain reports, but some of those organizations hadn’t even gone through their Riot interview when those reports were published. So from my side, there’s not much I can really add at this point.
I wouldn’t expect any final decisions anytime soon, not this month, and quite possibly not the month after either.
PS: I wrote this when the first reports came out. Things could have changed over the last 2 weeks, but I don’t think so.
Before the cut of day 24 of June, I almost had all the orgs in the process , but couldn’t confirm 2 or 4 of the teams. Maybe once I come back home in some days I'll work on a report with all the teams that are still in the run, but I won’t have any favourites

A lot more details coming later this year!
Wins a ring, gets benched in the Olympics, gets hated on more than any other player all year, puts everything into keeping his team alive, and ends his season tearing his Achilles.
Fuck every single person who trolled for clicks on year I can’t imagine how low he must feel right now
@RwondoNaples yeah I hope this is the case, I believe 100t did this a year or two ago. granted they were still in valo and league I think OpTic could be going a similar path.
I know this community is mostly just COD fans, but I'm curious: Does anyone else think when 100t announces a new venture, that's what OpTic should've been? love cod comp but also miss OpTic being more.
@RwondoNaples Yeah, I mean, I get it. It wouldn't be smart to jump into a dozen different esports. But at what point are they just being picky? Regardless, I hope we get some info soon.
@GrandpaFishes I think he's knows long term he will likely be the guy the team builds around. sure this year is a wash but I think pred knows what they can do in the future.
@dallasmeyer_ Kinda hope the backlash didn’t make Dashy bend the knee. He might’ve been being dramatic but I thought he wasn’t wrong about wanting compensation
@Pxmpyz if I was a betting man, I'd wager that it was a time restraint thing. someone else said it in the community but i'd imagine hcs didn't want to pay for after hours.
@LaM0nt_4 I definitely think its excusionary, but at the same time, I do think the past gets disregarded by newer fans. Neither is really right, but I think when it comes to sports/esports, this type of thing will happen.
