But yeah it is the game you shoot poop so that it can drop coins and you can buy a car battery to trigger a “firin mah lazar” reference beam more often. It’s a truly strange work that I think is uniquely *video game* in a way not many others are.

I often forget about just how brutal the thematic ideas surrounding Isaac are, it’s a game with so much subtext of trauma. Truly crushing piece of art based on a game I love almost wholly for its game design choices and reminds me of the encompassing artistic vision of it all

I think the ways in which the game portrays a child attempting to grapple with his own innocence and guilt in death are way more mature and well thought out than the aesthetic and gameplay patterns would have you believe.
