If you ever tore your hair out wondering how certain people can accurately name what is wrong with the left while remaining committed to being leftist, Aimee has explained it. Short version: it’s an act to keep others from leaving. Read on 👇
And with LibertyCon coming up I'll be off X for a bit starting early afternoon tomorrow and Sarah will be at that con, too, so you two and everyone else have fun while we're out!
Sarah getting into the European mind again regarding the situation in Britain and where the US is both similar and not. Worth the read, especially the warnings. CC: @AndToddsaid and @cyr_actual
@AndToddsaid Which is why Following is so much nicer! Then again, you often do see people you follow responding to rage bait, too, so... There's a reason I keep a few daily reads in my search tab and move on quickly.
🚨🧵 BREAKING - The "conservative" protest against AI data centers has an anti-ICE NGO organizer, a DSA member, Facebook money.
Other than that, totally grassroots.
Axios ran an "exclusive" Wednesday about a "conservative group" called Humans First planning a nationwide day of protest against AI data centers on July 18. Amy Kremer is chairing it and invoking the Tea Party.
Axios didn't mention that Humans First was incubated by the Center for AI Safety, an organization funded with millions from Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz. Or that its original staff included a Sunrise Movement organizer who sat in at Pelosi's office with AOC and a DSA member who organized for Kamala Harris.
NBC News described CAIS as having founded Humans First "to be a sort of Trojan horse to make AI safety issues more palatable to a conservative political audience."
@ParkerThayer exposed the Action Network backend.
As always, patience as I pull together the thread. 👇
If dealing with leftists gives you reminders of the Bad Old Days in school there's a reason for that, as Sarah illustrates here. Schools themselves don't get off either of course. CC: @AndToddsaid and @cyr_actual
Have you ever noticed how many people cannot distinguish an explanation from a justification?
This results in a special kind of rеtаrdation wherein one want to prevent certain things from happening, e.g. the rise of fascism, but one is utterly unable to ask questions such as "How does fascism take root in a polity?" because to try to EXPLAIN THIS would be, in their minds, the same as JUSTIFYING FASCISM.
So everything bad that happens must always be a black box, an inexplicable cipher that just happens for no reason.
So they go through life, bewildered in a sea of effects without causes.
JD Vance Just EVISCERATED The Hosts of The View over their false claims about Donald Trump and Epstein LIVE On-Air:
"One of the things you see in the Epstein emails is the Jeffrey Epstein hated Donald Trump. Donald Trump literally reported Epstein to the police."
"He threw Epstein out of his club when he found out he was a creep and reported him to the police. That's something the media often misses when it reports the story. They say they knew each other in the 80s... they ignore the fact he narc'ed on him to the police, which ultimately let to Epstein's downfall."
Sarah's post today covers a lot, stemming from a certain book and her time in the trad pub trenches to emphasize how leftist occupied systems break people and how to work around them. CC: @AndToddsaid and @cyr_actual
@AndToddsaid Well put, and interesting way of thinking about it. Good catch on the honor culture mentality, too. If you haven't read Holly Math Nerd's take on the subject she goes into that in greater detail.
@AndToddsaid Plus there's the conundrum of bullshit needing refuting vs. giving these engagement farmers what they want and I can't think of an easy solution to that.
@AndToddsaid It definitely takes a bit of practice to train yourself to check those account details first but once you do the engagement farming becomes that much easier to spot.
@Avazoey_ Sounds like an issue you need to take care of in your own homeland first before you comment elsewhere. Assuming, of course, you actually care about more than just engagement farming.
Sarah's post today is a pointed one reiterating the problems of culture and indoctrination in light of the Anthony case. Pointed because there's enough people drawing stupid conclusions that aren't even close to the actual problems here to be a problem.
