The #IUCNcongress 2025 begins this week, where the Secretary General will participate in key sessions and discussions. As the only global treaty dedicated to wetlands, the Convention’s presence at the Congress underscores its vital role in advancing wetland conservation.
💧 Recognising wetlands are integral to the global water cycle creates new opportunities.
🌱 Wetlands support water security at all scales.
🌍 Countries that incorporate wetlands into national water, climate & development strategies are building resilience while reducing risk.
It is still possible to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C and avoid the worst of climate chaos.
We know it can be done if we supercharge the transition to the clean energy age.
The bottom-line is clear:
Clean is competitive & #ClimateAction is imperative.
#WetlandsWednesday: Recognizing the importance of National Wetland Inventories (NWIs), the Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands and the Humboldt Institute co-organized the first Spanish language module of the NWI training course, held from 19 to 23 May in Bogotá, Colombia.
The programme aims to enhance national expertise, refine technical skills and support the development of robust strategies to complete National Wetland Inventories.
By equipping national focal points with structured methodologies and state of the art tools, this three year training course is building a stronger global network committed to protect wetlands for our common future.
