Southern Wesleyan University lands a true star in D’Marcus Thomas. The senior guard wrapped up his career at Westwood High School (Blythewood, SC), leading the team to a 25–3 record, a first-ever state championship, and a No. 89 national ranking according to MaxPreps. Back in March, Thomas delivered a standout performance in the SCHSL 5A Division II state championship against Greenville, finishing with 25 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block in a 67–55 win. After Westwood fell behind early, Thomas took complete control, forcing turnovers on defense, competing on the glass, and attacking relentlessly on the offensive end. He shot 57 percent from the field and was highly efficient from the free-throw line throughout the game. That performance came as no surprise. Thomas was named Midlands Player of the Year after averaging 23.6 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists per game. He has the ability to take over games with his postseason intensity, high motor, and three-level scoring ability. With a quick, fluid jump shot, he can get his shot off efficiently both off the catch and off the dribble, using a steady handle to break down defenders. Beyond scoring, Thomas shows strong playmaking instincts, displaying patience and vision as he orchestrates the offense and finds open teammates. He’s a selfless leader who does whatever it takes to win. Defensively, he uses his length and active hands to disrupt passing lanes, consistently staying in a low stance and beating opponents to their spots. As a true freshman, expect Thomas to make an immediate impact at the next level in Central, South Carolina @DmarcusThomas@RedhawkMBB@TrentRob15@AndrewBaxleySC@LostLettermen@SwuHoops@CoachJStites
