💻 On January 9, 2009, Satoshi Nakamoto released the first version of the Bitcoin client, known as Bitcoin 0.1. This initial release was made available on the SourceForge website. At the time, the software only supported Windows operating systems.
Version 0.1 included features that allowed Bitcoin to function as a wallet, node, and miner, making it sufficient for all possible operations during that period. Two days later, on January 11, 2009, Hal Finney made the legendary tweet: "Running bitcoin." The first actual transaction took place on January 12, 2009. This transaction was for 10 bitcoins and was sent from Satoshi Nakamoto to Hal Finney in block 170.
