The accusation that I am antisemitic is appalling and fundamentally dishonest. Criticizing the actions of the Israeli prime minister, a military technology contract, or the executives who supply it is not the same as criticizing Jewish people. This merger has real consequences for real people, and for the entire country. Scrutinizing the Ellisons, including Oracle’s business built on data, surveillance technology and government contracts, and the serious threat to editorial freedom and the loss of a livelihood for thousands of families, is fair and necessary. The $111 billion deal would hand one family control over CNN, HBO and Warner Bros., backed in part by foreign money whose influence on editorial decisions has never been fully explained to the public. 

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have called for serious national security review, and regulators still haven’t given the public a real answer. Until they do, the merger shouldn’t move forward. Now is the time to dive boldly into all these issues, not step back or concede.

here are my thoughts on Jason Arday, who just committed suicide after being incessantly hounded by the entire UK and US media class from across the ideological spectrum, The Guardian to The Telegraph and New York Times. After it was revealed that he committed plagiarism in his PhD thesis and academic work, he resigned, but it was not enough. They kept picking at him every day, over and over. They wanted to turn him into a symbol for the lack of ability of every non-white scholar. They wanted to make him the poster-boy for "woke 1", to use AOCIA's phrasing, and all its evils and depravities, so they couldn't let it go even after he had resigned and it was already over.

So I want to compare and contrast Arday with another person: Bill Ackman's wife Neri Oxman, who is an Israeli Zionist Jew. She completed her PhD at MIT in 2010, and in the same year joined MIT's media lab as part of the faculty. There she was allowed to found a "research group" that was heavily funded, including by Jeffrey Epstein. Her PhD was found to be filled with plagiarism:

As you can see there, her plagiarism was massive, and included literally copy-pasting from Wikipedia and plagiarizing from another already caught plagiarist: https://t.co/nQwyyPjAaI. This is worse than anything Arday was accuse of by a million miles. She didn't even copy-paste from other academic sources, she copy-pasted FROM FUCKING WIKIPEDIA.

This was a marginal item for a few days, her husband Bill Ackman, a fanatical genocidal Zionist, defended her plagiarism by saying that copy-pasting from Wikipedia and all the rest is actually completely normal and fine, and he pressured Business Insider's owners to review and retract the reporting (https://t.co/MAZLFC3Lb0), and then everyone forgot about it and she still has her PhD in good standing.

If she hadn't already left her MIT position in 2021, she would still have it today, and everyone knows it because no one dares touch a Zionist Israeli Jew who can hysterically cry ANTISEMITISM ANTISEMITISM and get Jake Tapper, Dana Bash, everyone at the NYT, BBC, CNN, Guardian alongside the vast Israel lobby and regime to rise to their defense.

No one attempted to make her into the symbol for Zionist Jewish supremacists and their deception and lies and how they worm themselves into elite academia and then use their Zionist Jewish supremacist husbands and the entire Israel lobby to defend them when they get caught.

Jason Arday had no one. A few marginal voices attempted to call of the dogs, but they were themselves swamped with death threats and insanity. He was systematically murdered by the media and political class, while countless Neri Oxman's slither around at MIT, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Cambridge, Oxford without a worry in the world because they know exactly where power really, actually lies.

Instead of blaming disposable BBQs, how about actually taking on the fossil fuel billionaires driving the climate crisis?

Fund our fire and rescue services properly. Invest in resilience. Stop expanding North Sea oil and gas. Stop backing Heathrow expansion. And stop letting AI data centres guzzle millions of litres of water every day.

Long post, sorry. But I swear, one of the disorders of this island is that whenever we do something well, we destroy it to appease an imagined reactionary swing voter in about 20 constituencies.

We do universities well. Genuinely, world-beatingly as a sector.

So naturally we're dismantling them — because "migrants," "foreigners," and "Mickey Mouse degrees."

While ignoring entirely that the sector:

1. Redistributes wealth around the country as students move between regions.
2. Delivers a massive net benefit through R&D
3. Anchors local economies — in half our towns, the university is the economy
3. Is one of our biggest export industries, with international students bringing in billions
5. Trains the doctors, nurses, and teachers as well as producing an educated population, in general.
6. Remains one of the few engines of social mobility we have left
7. Generates the spin-outs and startups every government has claimed it wants more of
8. Is among the last sources of British soft power that still commands global respect
9. And is a GOOD in and of itself, builds lifelong friendships, improves social cohesion, exposes young people to different ways of life and living. The most formative experience in many peoples' lives.

And they're not being destroyed, for the most part, by the sector itself, but by stupid decision after stupid decision by the government around how to run and fund them.

It is a genuine catastrophe, tanking our last stellar industry.

But instead of even reporting on the broader impacts this will all have, the university is just castigated as some fortress in the culture war.
