Former rail employee saddened by the apathy and contempt from current bosses. I sometimes tweet helpful service updates for the people @TrainsInfo has blocked.
I’ve been feeling so utterly awful for everyone caught up in @TrainsInfo chaos last week. I just want to things to get better, for everyone's sake.
Here’s a thread of thoughts from a former rail worker on what desperately needs to change at #SydneyTrains from the top down. (1/8)
Hundreds of train services across the Sydney rail network are expected to be cancelled this morning after a train derailed at Circular Quay. https://t.co/gHTqQspccH #SydneyTrains#7NEWS
@T1SydneyTrains@T9SydneyTrains@SydneyMetro How are Western Line services able to run as normal when they’re normally formed by North Shore services that are cancelled? Are they being diverted around the City Circle instead of going over the bridge?
@HaydnMcD@TrainLinkNorth@T1SydneyTrains @AndrewConstance @GladysB I was once told their twitter team are actually part of the Marketing department and do not get customer service training.
@Fleafi7@T1SydneyTrains Ah yes. They loaded a complete incorrect message into the real time apps for these changes. The trains were never scheduled to stop at most of those stations. Effectively they only skipped St Leonards and Artarmon which is ridiculous.
@TripView@AFLLab@T9SydneyTrains@T1SydneyTrains Thanks - these data issues seem to be happening quite a lot recently. You may need to build some data validation into the app with a warning that impossible data has been detected and not to blindly follow it!
@paulbrown73au@TrainsInfo@HowieCollins Their priority system is to further delay already late trains to ensure other trains stay on time. One very late train produces a better on time running metric than two slightly late trains. Even if the very late train is full and the on time train is empty.
@T1SydneyTrains This also impacts Western Line services arriving into Central and some Northern Line services arriving into the city. To bypass the worst of the delays customers may like to change at Strathfield to an intercity/T9 train that arrives into Sydney Terminal. T2 is also an option.
