Sadia Sheikh died on October 21 after being stabbed near the eastern side of Nerul railway station in Navi Mumbai. According to police, she and Anil had been friends for around four years.

The report says Anil had changed his name to Danish for Sadia. Police stated that tensions had developed between them in recent months and that Anil was upset because Sadia had reportedly been ignoring him. On October 20, he allegedly followed her after learning she would be coming to Nerul. A dispute reportedly broke out near a bus stop, during which Sadia was stabbed. She was taken to Sion Hospital but died the following day.

Police examined CCTV footage and used technical investigation to trace Anil to a relative’s home in Ghansoli, where he was arrested. Police also seized the knife allegedly used in the attack. A court remanded him to police custody until October 28.
