Thandiani was established as a 'sanitarium' or retreat for the British soldiers stationed in the turbulent Northwest Frontier Province.
Subsequently, Thandiani evolved as a home for Christian missionaries operating in NWFP, who retreated here to experience solitude and peace. (1)

Thandiani is surrounded by thick forests, and the forest cover is much denser as compared to other areas of the Galiyat, such as Nathia Gali. Owing to its high rate of precipitation and moisture, its environment is ideal for dense vegetation, making the experience unique. (3)

The Khilingrong Mosque is a 17th century mosque built by the Amacha Dynasty of Shigar valley blending Tibetan, Balti and Kashmiri architecture. Its intricate wooden carvings and motifs are one of the most authentic expressions of the region's vernacular architecture.

One of the most amazing experiences I have had is capturing the night sky at Deosai National Park, Skardu. The sky looks mesmerizing and one can clearly see the Milkyway.
