@GrammarGirl Your article mentions “other labels.” Are these titles, MD, PhD, DDS , etc.? I taught English for over 20 years & I always insisted on the use of the comma to separate names from titles—including Jr. & Sr.

@GrammarGirl What about “draw” the curtains? Can mean open or close them. “Citation” can mean an award for achievement or a notice for breaking regulations, i.e., a speeding ticket. Finally, an interesting example my students taught me is “left”—Everyone else “left”, but I was left behind.
