Warning signs:
•Heavy bleeding that doesn’t stop
•Clots passing repeatedly
•Dizziness and rapid pulse
This condition is managed in a hospital setting by a skilled birth attendant. #TogetherAgainstPPH25

Risk factors of Placental remains;
* Incomplete separation of the placenta.
*Placenta grows deep into the uterine wall causing it to become stuck(placenta accreta)
*Traumatic or manual removal
*Mismanaged third stage of labor
All these can lead to PPH and maternal death

Postpartum hemorrhage(PPH) is the leading cause of maternal death and one of its causes is placental remains, When pieces of the placenta or membranes are left inside the uterus after delivery, they prevent proper uterine contraction, leading to PPH. #TogetherAgainstPPH25

On 1st August @MinofHealthUG launched a campaign to end maternal death from PPH(Excessive bleeding after child birth). As @rmugahi99 mentioned PPH contributes 43% to maternal mortality and morbidity yet it can be prevented.

PPH is an emergency. A mother can bleed out in minutes if she doesn’t get the right care. It can happen:
•If the uterus doesn’t contract after delivery.
•If pieces of placenta are left inside.
•Due to birth canal or uterine tears
•Or coagulation disorders.
