Anyone who thinks Jesus and John are brothers is an idiot for sure. But I converted to Catholicism at age 40, and I can tell you there is A LOT of Biblical illiteracy among Catholics.
I could have taught some of my RCIA teachers. And many of the cradle Catholics in the class knew next to nothing.
Given how much Scripture is read at Mass it blew my mind how little they managed to retain.
