@BrentColman@integritycdn My wife won’t let me get a 2nd dog (we said goodbye to our dear Winston almost a year ago).
Does the same rules apply in this situation?
By not having a goalie singed for over $1M and having basically zero organizational depth.
2 injuries and this team watches the playoffs from the beach again.
@bcurlock I typically agree, with one of the few exceptions being this team.
As long as line 3 isn’t getting caved in, 97/29 should produce enough to offset.
That said, Nuge/Dicky/??? Could be ok.
@mathewjdp His role isn’t to produce offense.
It’s to stop other teams offense.
We have been yelling for years we need better defensive players, we get one on a decent deal, and fans are like “but he doesn’t score goals”
A lot of ppl will complain about the term. Think it’s fine, keeps it to $4M and probably was something player wants so family can settle.
Overall happy with this. We can have a strong shutdown line. He won’t score many goals but that’s not his job.
@JackieBee_16@lotsryan@Jessiekins Met my wife there. It was a totally different experience for men vs women.
Was almost 2 years of constant rejection until now wife matched me because she wanted to know what I did for work.
Had a picture of me blowing something up and her curiosity got her.
@HammermeisterK@heavyoilcontry Him still being paid is much less of an argument than most people think.
It also opens a lot of default avenues. Like, if they are to provide access to facility and they don’t, he has a potential default claim.
@HammermeisterK@heavyoilcontry Anyone with video review can see what a team does in situations. Maybe argument for injuries or draft strategy, but that would apply to entire league.
Further, non-competes are heavily restricted in Nevada, which I presume is the state law applying to this contract.
@HammermeisterK@heavyoilcontry I disagree they can easily provide adequate support for their current position.
A lot of those arguments are weak at best, from the moment they allowed Cassidy to talk to any team.
Being in same division is a weak argument. If you are that worried, why did you fire him?
@HammermeisterK@heavyoilcontry Sorry, I deal with contract law lots for work.
It’s unfair because it’s restraint of trade.
“You have demonstrated that working for a competitor is acceptable. Just not this competitor because you don’t like them”.
Force Vegas to support that position.
@MorganLaidler@heavyoilcontry I agree. Vegas counsel probably also told them this.
Doesn’t mean they’d do it. They might gamble that he won’t go to court or that it would take two long, both reasonable positions for VGK to take.
@MorganLaidler@heavyoilcontry The NHL has no authority here. They are not the jurisdiction that enforces contract law.
The NHL can ask or suggest Vegas does something but can’t force it.
The court does have authority. Cassidy has a contract with Vegas. They can decide and enforce a ruling.
@MorganLaidler@heavyoilcontry I agree they need permission.
I disagree they can arbitrarily choose who gets permission. Contract law takes over here (it’s a contract, governed by contract law).
I would wager pretty decent amounts of money a court would rule in favor of Cassidy/Edmonton if it’s challenged.
@MorganLaidler@heavyoilcontry Right, but a team can’t (shouldn’t) say “I’ll let you go to Team M, but not Team O”.
That’s exercising power of consent arbitrarily and courts do not approve of that. It’s also bad faith.
