Original @fifisyms account hacked - so very 2026! 😬 Ex-lib Tory (no to Brexit/BJ/LT/KB) centrist, #Moderates. Proud daughter/granddaughter of WW1/2 Aces.
This time 82 years ago my 21 yo father climbed in to his plane with the rest of 96 Squadron (Nocturni Obambulamus! 💪) to give nightfighter cover over the Channel for Operation Overlord. He writes simply in his logbook “FRANCE INVADED”, also “atrocious landing” in the days preceding the operation which always makes me smile. I note that whilst preparing for DDay he was also flying one of only 2 Welkins from FIU - they were trialled for high altitude combat but ultimately never needed. Little did he know that straight after Overlord the V1s would start coming over and he’d spend his Summer shooting them down at night. Thank you to every brave hero who played their part so that we walk in freedom today. Never forgotten. I sit looking at that logbook, tears pricking and wonder how my father felt writing in it probably at around 4 or 5 am on the 6th just before the amphibious invasion began. He was very blunt and probably would’ve said “I was shattered and went to bed”. 💓 #DDay82
Do I agree with him? No. Do I want another Reform MP in Parliament? Categorically not. The abortion stuff particularly was a disgrace. BUT he certainly did handle himself quite well on QT and I said so and he’s a lot more personable than most Reform candidates and I had a very extreme one in 2024. Suspect there will be some shy Kenyonites. Suspect it will be closer than people think. Whatever I think about Reform, Labour deserves to get battered for calling this by-election. Some of the worst optics in living memory.
D-Day in Color: Reinforcements Secure the Beachhead 🇺🇸🇬🇧
The Normandy beachhead is now firmly in Allied hands as supply convoys, DUKWs, and fresh troops continue moving inland after the initial assault.
German prisoners are gathered under guard while Coast Guard rescue boats and hospital ships work offshore to recover survivors and evacuate the wounded.
A sweeping panoramic view reveals the massive scale of the secured beachhead, now packed with ships, vehicles, supply depots, and the wreckage left behind by the invasion.
The largest amphibious invasion in history was now firmly underway.
Southampton is a peace-loving community and thugs who share your views rioted the other night. Your Sloaney, racist, Islamophobic voice should be driven out of politics.
So far today I’ve been called a seedy cunt, a wanking grifter, a poof, a shitty poof, Mr Humphries (sic), a bumboy and an ugly bumboy.
All before breakfast.
Happy Pride month folks. 🌈
Toasting the incredible life of Charles Shay, who died last year aged 100. He was the last living medic who saved lives on Omaha Beach. Now, in 1944, he's crossing the English Channel with the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st ID, bound for Easy Red Sector. See more: https://t.co/1fyMyIOKpL
The Liberal Democrat's Roger Harmer has been elected as Birmingham Council Leader, despite the party being the smallest grouping with just 12/101 seats.
They were supported by the Greens and some Independents.
If you are on Cheapside tonight at 6 o/c and you think you hear the bells of St Mary le Bow ringing out Cher's Believe, Pink Pony Club, or Over the Rainbow - well you are!
I'm very excited to announce that I"m curating a set to celebrate Pride Month.

The first critical mission of D Day is a success.
Just ten minutes to complete one of the greatest coup de main operations in history.
They didn’t fight for this sort of crap, that’s for sure. And they were not a homogenous voter block either. Honestly by all means commemorate DDay but don’t conflate it with right-wing culture wars. Crackers.
'I don't think this was what they fought for.'
On the eve of D-Day, @PatrickChristys, @cristo_radio, and William Yarwood discuss Britain's current cultural issues in relation to the freedoms that World War Two soldiers fought for.
