@abernathy_jim@this_mk@iamxenophonicus@GregCasar@GregAbbott_TX Sure, a small blunder for anyone who isn't a politician who holds a lot of influence over a large population. As Texans and Americans, we should hold our representatives to higher standards. And when they make mistakes like this, they should acknowledge them instead of hide them.
@MrPumpkinFace1 @mentedelmaestro @iamxenophonicus@GregCasar@GregAbbott_TX Except this isn't what's happening here. An incorrect assumption from a satirical article and the truth only applies to transphobes. A group that actively seeks to harm a group of people because they disagree with how they live. I'm sure we both wanna live without persecution.
@iamxenophonicus@roarn2go@GregCasar@GregAbbott_TX You're correct they can share their experiences so we can better understand where current treatment is lacking. Improving treatment would prevent similar cases while increasing our understanding of the impact it has in the long term. Thus, preventing harm to future patients.
@iamxenophonicus@roarn2go@GregCasar@GregAbbott_TX You shouldn't weaponize people's suffering. It doesn't help them, it only helps you. You should support those individuals and help them. It doesn't protect kids because those kids don't have temporary conditions. It's like being straight. It won't change. It's who you are.
@iamxenophonicus@roarn2go@GregCasar@GregAbbott_TX The problem comes when transphobic individuals use the people's suffering as a weapon instead of helping and supporting them. Transphobes don't care about them. They just use them as a means to an end.
@iamxenophonicus@roarn2go@GregCasar@GregAbbott_TX We hear and support them. They were let down by people not catching that they probably had a different problem going on all together. We shouldn't silence them either, but hear them. Byt, extrapolating that minority to the majority is harmful since the majority benefit from care.
@iamxenophonicus@roarn2go@GregCasar@GregAbbott_TX We aren't experimenting on kids. We are providing treatment that we have plenty of evidence that shows it helps those who need it. The same way we started using implants, vaccines, new surgeries, and all kinds of treatments. We always start somewhere and continue if it helps.
@iamxenophonicus@roarn2go@GregCasar@GregAbbott_TX We used to think cigarettes, radioactive drinks, not wearing seatbelts, lead gasoline, mercury medicines, and cosmetics were all okay for us to use at one point. Science takes time, but when evidence to the contrary comes out, we reevaluate our knowledge.
@iamxenophonicus@roarn2go@GregCasar@GregAbbott_TX The evidence you've provided needs fact-checking, but besides that, I could also just throw many articles of pedophile republican CP and trafficking, but it'd be pointless. Kids aren't dumb. They need to mature before permanent action is taken, but that's not the start of care.
@iamxenophonicus@roarn2go@GregCasar@GregAbbott_TX Well, studies do show a link between autism and GID. But the treatment for minors and adults doesn't start with drugs or surgery. Typically, it begins with therapy and psych evaluations. Nothing can happen until those two are cleared. The patient must also give informed consent.
@iamxenophonicus@roarn2go@GregCasar@GregAbbott_TX You have to know they are chanting, "we're here, we're queer, we're not going shopping." The person behind the camera is the only one shouting about children. They gathered to protest shopping in the area. Listen closely; it's very obvious. Unless you are blinded by hate and fear
@iamxenophonicus@roarn2go@GregCasar@GregAbbott_TX The only individuals proven to consistently victimize children are Republican elected officials. Their voting habits on legislation show us this. They continually vote against the interest of children. Then feed fearful rhetoric to the public to make you fear a fake boogeyman.
@iamxenophonicus@roarn2go@GregCasar@GregAbbott_TX Well, no one brought up kids until you did. Trans people aren't crying out to trans all kids in the world. They are crying out that they just want to be able to live without fear of being attacked for who they are. Your previous comments show you can empathize and relate to that.
@iamxenophonicus@roarn2go@GregCasar@GregAbbott_TX Reading over your responses, it's also pretty clear you're looking to become a victim. You want to be perceived as harmed to justify your own beliefs. Calling people "mean" names like asshole doesn't fit that bill. That's just learning to cope with emotions as an adult.
@iamxenophonicus@blylevenon@GregCasar@GregAbbott_TX If you'd like me to make a point, it would be that Abbott is an example of what happens when we let fear and hate consume and drive personal interest. You stop thinking with reason and empathy. If we want to better ourselves, our community, and country we must overcome our fears.
