One party member asked if I was getting it repaired. I said it still functioned so it wasn't a priority. They collectively couldn't fathom this sentiment
Whispers of expense to repair went through the party as they took in my cracked 5 year old android device. All checking I put their phones in a safer location than my own.
I had the honour of being that 'responsible adult' when a birthday party wanted to play football. It was sweet of them. Given the absolute state of my phone. Which they regarded wide eyed and horrified (it's screen is badly cracked)
Things I have noticed about younger generations that are positively different:
Before engaging in any sort of rough housing their phone (top of the line iPhones) are safely stacked with a responsible adult in a safe location.
I had an operation on Saturday and it went really well.
Except my blood pressure was extremely low pre op and I was nil by mouth.
I should have told the nurse to start slamming cupboard doors in the kitchen to get it to go up.
'That's what happens when we don't talk about work as work, but as pursuing a passion. It makes quitting a job that relentlessly exploited you feel like giving up on yourself instead of what is really is: advocating for yourself and your needs' - Anne Helen Peterson 'Cant Even'
Just finished 'and how does that make you feel?' by Joshua fletcher. I found it thought provoking and emotional in places. Particularly enjoyed Levi in the book as I have met a few people in that profession with similar struggles.
