There's often talk of needing a character's dialogue to sound like it comes from them, to make each of their lines unique enough that we know who's talking. While this *can* be good, I find it sometimes feeds into the quote farming behavior.
Throughout human history, we tend to view human cruelty, especially against innocent victims, as evil. Evil in the sense that it is not human. And, if it is not human nature, then there must be some outside force. There must be some evil things out there!
