I remember using 12 button mice like that for about a decade. I never mapped a single button to them. Someone put a Logitech G502 in my hand and every time I sit at my desk I literally say out loud, "Wow, this mouse is incredible"
Owning one of these meant 1–12 was permanently mapped into your nervous system, Shift+7 was somehow a defensive cooldown you haven’t consciously thought about since Wrath, and you could play an entire raid boss off muscle memory while having absolutely no idea what half your actual keybinds were.
10/10 parenting. I will die on the hill that supporting young adults and staying right there with them as they climb into adulthood is one of the most important things you will ever, ever do as a parent.
