🚨 Zlatan Ibrahimović on Lionel Messi reporting Marc Cucurella to the referee
🗣️ Zlatan Ibrahimović:
"If Messi immediately goes to the referee to report that Cucurella covered his mouth before saying something, then the officials have a responsibility to take it seriously. Players don't usually react that way without believing something crossed the line.
I'm not here to defend Messi or Cucurella. I don't care about the badge or the name. I care about consistency. If the laws apply to one player, they must apply to everyone.
If there's even a possibility that offensive or abusive language was used, the referee and VAR should investigate it properly. You cannot dismiss something like that simply because it's a World Cup final.
The referee should have spoken to both players before allowing the game to move on. Whether anything punishable was said or not, that's the process. The worst thing you can do is ignore it completely.
Football at this level is decided by the smallest moments. If there's enough evidence of misconduct, action must be taken. The biggest matches deserve the strongest officiating, and fairness should never depend on who's involved."
🚨🗣️New: Lionel Messi on why he started crying after receiving the silver medal despite the World Cup final defeat to Spain:
“I wasn’t just thinking about losing a final. I was thinking about everything that brought me here… every sacrifice, every difficult moment, every time people doubted us, and every time this shirt gave me the strength to continue.
“When I heard the Argentina fans chanting my name after the defeat, that was the moment that broke me. We had just lost the biggest game, but they didn’t turn their backs on us. They didn’t see a silver medal… they saw the journey. They saw the heart, the fight, and the pride we gave them.
“I looked into the stands and I saw families who travelled thousands of miles, people who dreamed with us, people who cried with us. That love is bigger than any trophy. Football gives you many victories, but moments like that remind you why you play.
“I cried because I felt the weight of the shirt, the love of my country, and the responsibility of wearing this badge. A medal can be silver, but the memories, the connection with the people, and the pride of representing Argentina… those things are priceless.
“Sometimes football gives you the perfect ending, and sometimes it gives you a painful chapter. But I learned that greatness is not only measured by lifting trophies. It is also measured by how you stand when your heart is broken.
“And hearing Argentina sing my name after losing a World Cup final… that was a victory of another kind. I will carry that moment with me forever.”

@laligafraudss 🇫🇷 Mbappe: 21 goals in 3 World Cups
🇦🇷 Messi: 20 goals in 6 World Cups
🇵🇹 Ronaldo: 9 goals in 6 World Cups
Ronaldo’s World Cup record is an embarrassment. He should be ashamed of himself!
To build an argument against Lionel Messi, you talk about:
— Pelé for the World Cups
— Cristiano Ronaldo for the goals
— De Bruyne for the assists
— Neymar and Maradona for the dribbling
— Zidane and Iniesta for the playmaking
— Xavi and Kroos for the passing
— Ronaldinho for the magic
— Beckham and Juninho for the free kicks
— Ronaldo Nazário for the individual brilliance
— Cruyff for the footballing influence
— Modrić for the midfield longevity
— Dani Alves for the trophies
— Ramos for the decisive moments
— Pelé and Maradona again for the international legacy
It takes an entire museum of football legends to recreate the qualities Lionel Messi carries in one body.
You bring a different legend for every category.
Messi brings himself.
The debate was over before it began. 🇦🇷🐐
