🚨 BREAKING: The Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council (BHBCUC) has reported 2,010 attacks on minority communities in just 16 days between August 4-20, 2024. This alarming tally includes attacks on 1,705 families across 68 districts, with homes, businesses, and places of worship vandalized, looted, and set on fire. Khulna division alone reported multiple rapes, including that of a speech-impaired woman.
However, the numbers reported are not the true picture. Critical incidents like murders, gang rapes, and abductions of girls remain severely underreported. HRCBM has documented counts of these atrocities that are more than five times higher than the verifiable numbers shared in official reports. The real scale of terror inflicted upon minority communities is far worse.
HRCBM has recorded over 2,200 attacks since August 5, surpassing all estimates. We are working urgently to assess the full scope of the crisis and will release a comprehensive report to the international community soon.
