🇸🇪 Third-grade pupils at Nyhamnsskolan, a municipal school in Höganäs, Sweden, were instructed during a religion lesson to line up, come forward, kneel and perform the movements of an Islamic prayer while a prayer was recited in Arabic. A parent reported that it included the phrase “Allahu akbar.”

The parent reported the incident after their child did not understand participation to be voluntary. Höganäs municipality acknowledged that pupils had not been specifically told they could opt out, while the principal said the exercise was intended to teach how Islamic prayer is performed.

The Swedish Schools Inspectorate opened a case over the incident but closed it about a month later, saying there were no grounds for further action.
