UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin stayed away from Sunday’s World Cup final in protest over FIFA’s handling of Folarin Balogun’s suspension, among other disagreements with football’s global governing body.

Along with the rest of the FIFA Council, the European football chief went to the tournament’s opening game in Mexico City on June 11 and had planned to attend the Spain-Argentina finale, too.

But the Slovenian changed his mind after FIFA’s disciplinary committee suspended the one-match ban U.S. striker Balogun earned for a red card in the round-of-32 game against Bosnia and Herzegovina on July 2.

Nagelsmann is a very good coach to develop attacking phases. There are many things to learn from him: inside diagonals, far-post overloads for crosses, short combinations, and more.

However, he continues to build with a 3+1 structure, with Kimmich on the right, where he clearly struggles to defend transitions in large spaces. Germany's vulnerability in transition has been evident for some time.

Nagelsmann is a great attacking coach, good enough to make his team effective offensively without having to commit so many players forward. Germany has enough good players to produce offensively.

The benefits of attacking in their 3-1-6 simply don't seem worth the defensive trade-off.
