@TAG45BU@SamScomo@EdinArch Was lucky enough to hear papers from all these three highly commended runners up; all excellent papers. Ingrid and Anna spoke at the Skyscapes session organised by @FSilva_skyscape and I; really enjoyed all the papers at that session. Great conference 🙏 #TAG45BU!
It means a lot to be recognised in this way, there were so many fascinating papers. Thank you to the judges, & @TAG45BU for putting on such a great event. Looking forward to York!
Aaargh, one tweet went missing from that last thread ... which was to thank both our amazing keynote speakers, Ian Hodder and Gill Hey! Two incredibly thought-provoking addresses, we hugely appreciate their agreeing to come along!
A highly of course is that we are delighted to announce this year's TAG prize winner is Rachel Crellin from @ArchAncHistLeic @uniofleicester. Huge congratulations, very well deserved!
This past weekend I had the pleasure to be for the first time at @TAG45BU. A great forum where I had the chance to talk about maps, experience, affect and difference in the Talayotic landscape.
A big thank you to all who came to @TAG45BU and especially to all those who spoke, ran stalls, volunteered, organised and generally helped out over the 3 days (and more)
You're all brilliant 🥂
Hope to see you in York next year!
@Sussex_Heritage @romanpalace@Durotrigesdig You could have presented a paper at @TAG45BU “Island Gigantism in the imported Oryctolagus cuniculus of Britannia” 🐰🐰🐰
I was very delighted to present my preliminary doctoral research this weekend at the 45th annual meeting of the Theoretical Archaeology Group @TAG45BU the atmosphere was not only encouraging but I greatly enjoyed listening to great minds coming together to share their thoughts.
... If we've forgotten anyone, please remind us! I can't emphasise enough how much of a team effort this all was.
But most of all, we want to thank YOU, the TAG community, for a genuinely lovely end to a difficult year. Here's to 2025!
Highly Commended in the Don Henson prize for debut paper, Sam Scott-Moncrieff @SamScomo, of @EdinArch for his paper "A building lineage? Palimpsests, brochs, and complex identity in the Scottish Iron Age".
Competition for the Don Henson Prize was stiff and the judges were so impressed with all the debut papers they saw they insisted we list some 'highly commended' scholars ... So in no particular order ...
