The Victoria Tenant Action Group (VTAG) would like to invite you to our third Annual General Meeting on WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 15, 2021 at 7:00 PM PST via Zoom. Member registration and Agenda here: https://t.co/c9IKpeRT77
VTAG is tabling in Fernwood Square this Sunday, November 7 from 1pm - 3pm (weather depending). Come by and say hi! We'll have flyers, membership forms, and will collect your thoughts about the challenges facing tenants as part of a collaborative project. See you this Sunday!
Pivot's latest blog: @nicolemluongo discusses pitfalls of institutionalization as housing "An emerging proposal, of replacing SROs with “complex care facilities” for the “hard to house,” is new, and its implications are alarming." Read the blog: https://t.co/IykjbAPsGt @JenStDen
@dunnune@bcgeu That is certainly a fair discussion for union members to be having, but in the interim it is not reasonable for Victoria's Mayor to disparage the opinions of union members.
Solidarity with all @bcgeu members just smeared by Mayor Helps as hypocrites for writing to Victoria Council and having their concerns dismissed because their pension fund has real estate investments. What an astonishing and unseemly attack on public engagement.
We are disappointed Victoria Council has delayed working on its rental licensing bylaw. The "wait and see" approach is a needless delay and the vote to not study gaps in provincial legislation because staff do not have sufficient resources to carry out the task is appalling.
Council's unwillingness to give greater priority to this subject by voting down @JeremyLoveday's motion to study gaps in the RTA legislation demonstrates that is not taking as seriously as possible what is a top priority for Victoria residents.
More information on landlord licensing, why Council is considering abandoning the bylaw, and why VTAG thinks that’s a mistake at the link.

We have a few points about the situation below, but if you’re short on time please just email Council now at [email protected] and tell them these protections are important to you as a renter.
@vee9zee@aimollison @Katlambert67 @LaurenSemrau @BerniePauly The RTB is a great example of the NDP's long history of tepid half measures.

We looked for 1 of our participants in the community today to provide them with their #SafeSupply. They tested positive for #COVID19 & have no fixed address. We don't know where to find them because there is nowhere for folks to isolate if they are homeless. #BCPoli#DualPandemic
So I guess this means those living in temporary housing facilities have full rights under the Residential Tenancy Act right? RIGHT? @aimollison@TAGVictoriaBC
