UNOC has identified potential prospects in the Butiaba area under the Kasuruban Block, signaling possible crude oil opportunities across Buliisa, Hoima, and Masindi districts. Early geological assessments indicate encouraging signs, warranting further detailed studies to determine the actual quantity and commercial viability of these prospects.
These potential resources are located within the proven Albertine Graben petroleum province, offering the opportunity to leverage existing and upcoming infrastructure projects such as Tilenga and Kingfisher. If confirmed, this could facilitate more efficient development, reduce future costs, and unlock substantial value for the country.
While additional appraisal and technical work is required, one thing is clear: Uganda continues to make steady progress in responsibly exploring and understanding her natural resources, with the goal of creating lasting, inclusive prosperity for all her people.
