It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.

Since its creation in 1856, the Victoria Cross has been awarded to over 1,300 recipients.
The Queen is Patron of The Victoria Cross and George Cross Association, which represents all living holders of the two honours.

🎖Today marks the 165th anniversary of the creation of the Victoria Cross. The honour recognises acts of extreme bravery in the presence of the enemy.
The inscription on the medals, “For Valour”, was chosen by Queen Victoria, after whom the award was named.
The Queen is sending a private message of condolence to the family of Captain Sir Tom Moore.
Her Majesty very much enjoyed meeting Captain Sir Tom and his family at Windsor last year. Her thoughts and those of the Royal Family are with them.
