Being a Devilman does NOT make me malevolent, Nor does it make me a beacon of purity and benevolence.
It’s just a message to all who possess stronger fortitude than the darkness that eats at the soul:
In those who become Devilmen, rationality and instinct are perfectly balanced, thus leading them to have and act following their own ethics, and not that of human society or anything else.
Humanity has shown its weak side more than once because of societies that based their ethics on wrong values, which often led entire communities to behave in an “inhuman” way to say the least.
But how can you describe all this with a single sentence? Simple, theory of the different. Society sets, values, behavioral patterns, how to dress, etc. Thinking or acting differently from this inevitably leads people to panic and terror. This is because people no longer think for themselves, but they think and do everything that is socially right.
If humanity during the Salem Witch Trials managed to eliminate thousands of people, driven by superstition/religion alone, imagine what it would be capable of, if any person, at any time, and without a precise cause, it could turn into a monster. The absolute chaos. Extinction.
The meaning behind being Devilman, is, therefore, to not suppress our instincts as human beings, and not imprisoning the voice of our heart among the bars of social ethics, but to reason with their own minds, and to do not blindly follow everything that is imposed on us by society.
Surely, there will be more and more open minds, but they will never be enough to eradicate all the bigotry and the irrational instincts that afflict our society.
Ask yourself, what is actually immoral for humanity? And what instead is only immoral because of what is imposed by society’s bigotry.
Devilman is a fictional character; But it’s the values of and Compassion, along with the will to fight against everything that pollutes the morals of mankind.
Let your eyes appear fearsome to others, battle darkness of any kind with immovable faith and understanding, convert anger into compassion whilst cutting all ties of negative feelings to guide people to enlightenment.
Most would consider aware minds as hypocrites due to possessing a rigid moral code , or they may assume that we suffer from some form of cognitive bias. it is possible for people with rigid moral codes, to be hypocritical or to suffer from cognitive biases, just like anyone else. However, it is important to remember that everyone’s moral codes and beliefs are shaped by their experiences and perspectives, and it is not always productive or fair to label someone a hypocrite, or to assume that they are suffering from cognitive biases. Is important to approach discussions of moral beliefs and behavior with empathy and understanding. additionally, it is essential to consider the context of an individuals, actions and words, as well as the larger societal and cultural factors that influence them.
Adhering to a rigid, moral code, may be the result of an authoritarian upbringing, which focuses more on having children, obey the rule and teaching them moral reasoning, understanding why some rules help us live better in society.
Religious faith is certainly not the result of evidence-based observation, or logical deduction. No one, starting with a blank slate, will arrive at the specific, detailed and contradictory ideas that make up the major world religions.
The real source of religion is a problem associated with human development. The young Homo sapiens take a couple of decades to develop intellectually. In that developmental phase, they have a pressing need to know information. (What is safe, what is harmful) but have no ability to validate or confirm what they are told. So children are like a computer with no firewall. They just rely on some trusted source of authority.
This makes them vulnerable to any cultural meme which is floating around. They can become infected with any false idea, and having been convinced of it, they remain, so as adults.
So when it comes their turn to have children, they repeat the process, and pass on the meme.
The specific form of religions, the actual content, often tends to mirror certain biases which are comforting. Ideas of companionship, an ordered plan, a sense that all bad outcomes are unfair, and that justice should prevail. And so on.
So, if you dissect the specific dogma of any religion, we see system of mythology, which addresses each of these particular biases.
Truthfully, cognitive biases are not to be overcome, they are to be recognized, understood, tamed and utilized.
Be a Devilman, I mean that in a symbolic sense, act against war, paranoia, hatred and ignorance. Let’s steer humanity away from Armageddon, if we don’t take action now, then we’ll repeat the same mistakes of men of times long past. Enabling the conflict and utter chaos of War, War that will inevitably lead humanity into extinction, all in a desperate attempt to cleanse themselves of hatred and negativity that has corrupted their structure of morals.
Fear and Love, both of these emotional concepts are two sides of the same coin. Mankind needs to realize that these two emotions will always be a struggle for humanity in their pursuit of happiness, Fear and love are both equally powerful feelings, not to mention they go hand in hand. If you’ve ever fallen in love with someone, I mean REALLY fall for someone, you probably felt nervous and when your feelings began to manifest externally, you most likely felt anxious and vulnerable.
To be factual, Love(maternal and romantic love being different forms of the same love) is a physiological motivation like hunger, thirst, sleep or sex and not an emotion or feeling with which love is usually confused. So just Love humanity, let the positive values that humanity has to offer each other become a form of love. If humanity understands the knowledge of the power that Love instills into you, then we have a fighting chance in saving ourselves from War and mass genocide.
War, it’s only fueled by envy and the act of domination. Chaos does not promote order. It’s time we stop with the violent conflicts that men engage into, just to obtain another’s land, wealth, power, status, knowledge, and resources out of sheer greed. This all happens due to the inflated ego of Men who only live to feel prideful of their ambitions of domination and victory.
If humanity as a whole can learn to come together and see the similarities we all share instead of the differences that separate us from one another, then I truly believe that we can overcome Mortal conflict and suppress and/or extinguish the growing fear that distrust, hatred, racism, pessimism, paranoia, envy, betrayal and Wrath that has been deeply cultivated into our minds and hearts.
Then just maybe… mankind will start to operate together as a whole to prolong and solidify the continued existence of ourselves as a species, rather than encouraging violence and negativity which would only potentially wipe out the entire human race if we continue to fall victim to darkness that isn’t controlled in moderation.
Just find balance within yourselves, ok people? If you do, you will attain unparalleled strength of will and determination. Whatever you do though, DO NOT let your pure feelings of love for someone(or multiple people even) define your faith in humanity. Let your rigid societal morality be the core of your faith in humanity, because if you let the ones closest to your heart become the reason for why you have faith in humanity, you WILL lose all faith in the good mankind still has to offer once your loved one(s) are taken away from you. If they die, depending on how the came to expire, whether it be murder, natural causes, personal choices like drug abuse which leads to overdose, and even suicide, etc.
I love all of you that I’ve ever met, even if you hate me. I still love you. You’re a human being with an immense capacity of Courage and Compassion, but also an immense capacity of darkness and scorn.
Hence, you can choose to be good or evil. And that makes every human being special, choice. You have choice, the free will to fight for what is just and right; Or, you can make the choice that reveals your malicious intentions of spite towards humankind and Love.
Just be a Devilman, pursue your true self after you’ve faced your shadows and welcomed them to your strength of will, in turn you take control of the power that your inner darkness once held over you, accepting that the darkness within is a part of you and always has been.
Use that darkness, not for evil, but to exterminate the evil that you perceive around you. Who said that inner darkness could only be a weakness, a power that your own mind uses against you to keep you straddling the line between Man Vs. Self. Let your pure feelings of Altruism guide you to your full integrity.
Have the body of a being born into sin, but retain the pure heart of an altruist, even if it gets you killed in the end. For what you believe in will make you a martyr when you are slain by any that oppose pure unadulterated Love for humankind.
I’m not persuading you to be Jesus, I’m showing you how to unlock the restraints that hinder you from being a positive force in our corrupted society.
By the same token, Cry for Love. Cry for others, and no matter what, NEVER cry for yourself. Battle your struggles with steely eyes and your head held up high. Again, NEVER wallow in Self-pity. All of you are so much stronger than you realize, believe, persevere.
If you read this whole post, I sincerely thank you, and I hope that you all will take my knowledge seriously. It’s the only way we can start establishing a positive force against the darkness that is creeping into all of humanity.
