My first undergraduate lecture, I couldn’t find anywhere to sit. I stood through the entire class. I still remember a respected professor, who later became the HOD, teaching chemical kinetics in LT3.

Today, I stood in front of 600 students in this magnificent hall as Head TA, responsible for almost a thousand students, to introduce myself and tell them to contact me about registration or anything they don’t understand in the course.

I see growth. I see progress. I am made for greatness.

Question:

I am overwhelmed with the lots of scholarship information online, could you help with some practical steps I can take?

Answer:

1. Get your international passport. The procedure is now easy and can be started online.

2. Fix your CV. This thread will assist you
https://t.co/tLpJ0wwYmR. An important information that distinct you is to evidences that confirm the information stated on your CV. You do not have to put it for each one but put it into some place. They can be like your thesis abstract, internship completion recommendation letter, DOI of published article, fellowship certificates, online link to projects, pdf documents, certificates of online courses etc.

2. Get your documents ready. By this, I mean you should have your transcript (student version or unofficial version), statement of results or certificates, english letter confirming your bachelor studies were done in the english language.

3. If you have means or support, you can write GRE OR GMAT, if not skip this.

4. If you have means or support, you can write IELTS or TOEFL or Duolingo.

5. If you only have money for one of these exams. I would suggest banking it on IELTS. If you do not have the means or support, skip it.

6. Be in contact with your recommenders.

7. At this stage, you are mostly qualified to support a scholarship application.

8. You can then start sending emails to professors based on your research interest on google. you can search for something like Adsorption + Research Groups + Canadian Universities. You can always modify the country and the research interest.

10. In parallel, you can prepare towards erasmus scholarships, visit the catalogue to select your own program of interest.

My biggest takeaway: Scholarships arent giveaways, theyre funds allocated for a specific purpose and value. When you demonstrate those values the scholarship can become yours.

Though, I'll always consider 300 level 1st Semester: 12 different Chemistry courses 11 A’s and 1 B( 3 marks denied me) as a 5.00 GPA. ✅

So, 2.9/8!🥲
