This is exactly how fandom and markets grow. When people ask why we need more coverage for women’s hockey, this is it. With a one week performance, a new generation of fans were born. Imagine if there were no media covering this event, no TV coverage. Built it and they will come.
Today, we honour and remember the late Rick Rypien.
His legacy continues to make an impact surrounding mental health awareness and the #HockeyTalks initiative.
You are not alone.
Asking for help is always okay.
It is unacceptable for @IIHFHockey to cancel the 2022 U18 Women’s World Championships for 2nd straight year, while keeping the men’s events scheduled.
This continues to widen the gender gap between women’s & men’s sports.

If you had a son & a daughter would you only let your son play hockey and not invest in your daughter playing because its a waste of money since she wont make millions playing in the NHL one day? How do we expect the game to get better if we dont even give it a chance.
It’s super insulting & degrading to announce the cancellation (not even postponement or relocation) of the Women’s U18 WHILE a men’s tournament is being carried on not once but TWO YEARS IN A ROW. Do better
The @IIHFHockey has prioritized/held top division mens events during the pandemic but the top division womens events - cancelled again. UNACCEPTABLE. Figure out how to safely play the U18 Worlds this season, just like the U18 men & #WorldJuniors. These players DESERVE to play too
What about the Women’s U18 that you cancelled 4 months prior to its start? You’re telling me you couldn’t find a safe alternative in those 4 months? Or did you think everyone would just forget & move on.
*Writes this as Men’s U18 is currently being played*
Letter to my younger self: The first time you dress for a game with the national team, take a moment. Take a moment to reflect on how you once had to dress and undress in a tiny bathroom stall.

Today in Mighty Girl history, Nellie McClung, Canadian feminist, politician, and social activist, was born in 1873. McClung was one of the "Famous Five" whose legal petition affirmed that women were considered "persons" under the law. https://t.co/iWQndJ7KvB

She can be with her husband. She can be with her girlfriend. She can be naked.
