*Potentially Significant Heat Wave Next Week*
- The season's first real heat wave will begin on Monday and continue throughout next week. Highs in the 90s with heat index values in the upper 90s through 110 degrees are expected. This will be amplified by the corn evapotranspiration aka corn sweat. A lot of moisture in the ground from all the storms combined with a lot of heat and humidity will lead to dangerous heat conditat times. Be prepared and make sure your a/c unit is ready to go with fresh filters and it's clear of debris from all the storms. We may see some relief at times next week as a ring of fire weather pattern sets up bringing potentially severe thunderstorm chances to northern Illinois. #ilwx
Also watching that timeframe when we warm up…Confidence is increasing in an active pattern between the 6/28 and 7/5 timeframe. Specifically Monday 6/29 catching my eye for a potentially active severe storm day. We are still far out, but monitor forecasts daily. #miwx
Confidence is increasing that severe weather is a possibility for Monday 6/29. AI model runs such as NSSL products, CSU, and rawinsonde and long-range model runs all show an uptick in severe weather for Monday 6/29. Confidence is increasing, but still on lower side (too far out).
Increased severe weather chances around the June 28th-July 5th timeframe with a “ring of fire” pattern setting up. This pattern usually favors squall lines, MCSs, and derechos. This pattern also favors very damaging winds. Stay tuned and monitor forecasts daily! #miwx
A steady soaking rainfall this afternoon and evening may result in localized flooding, particularly near and south of I-88. A few strong storms are also possible well south of I-80. If you come across flooded roadways, remember: turn around, don’t drown! #ILwx#INwx
