The TBHC exists to collect, preserve, & communicate the history of Baptists in Texas and to assist institutions, associations, churches, & individuals.
HELLO, JULY!
Every day history is being written.
Your mission trip, baptism, Vacation Bible School, worship service & everyday moments of faith will one day tell the story of Texas Baptists.
The question? Who is preserving those stories?
Todays ministry is tomorrows history.

The Texas Baptist Historical Collection staff traveled to Dallas this week for staff week. Our director, Alan, presented the History of Baptist Confessions, we had a great team building dinner at Sixty Vines, survived Dallas traffic and made it back home safely to Waco.
A new year. A time for new beginnings. Praying for your relationship w/Jesus Christ to grow closer & stronger, I also hope to build a relationship between the Texas Baptist Historical Collection and YOU!
Reach out with any requests you have. 2025 is our year to help you!
On November 19, 1854, Texas hero Sam Houston became a member of Independence Baptist Church and was baptized by Rufus C. Burleson. The pew in which Houston sat has been preserved and marked for church visitors.

How do we communicate? Through scans and emails we share information with researchers around the world. We also display artifacts and tell the story of Texas Baptists at our two museums located in Waco and Independence.
How do we preserve? Donated material is stored in our archives and library in Waco, TX. Fragile material we photocopy and scan when appropriate to make sure the information is preserved.
How do we collect? We take donations from the families of ministers who served in Texas to document their legacy and contributions and from churches in Texas including church minutes and other historical information. We now house J. M. Price's desk and a collection of his works!
Who are we? The Texas Baptist Historical Collection was founded in 1933 and exists to collect, preserve and communicate the history and heritage of Texas Baptists to individuals, churches and institutions.
At the annual meeting of the BGCT in 1933 the convention adopted "How Firm a Foundation, Ye Saints of the Lord" as the official BGCT hymn and recommended this song be sung as often as possible in church services. When was the last time your church sang it?
Wow! What a beautiful soul Eula Mae Henderson was. While traveling the world on mission trips, working in her own church, and serving on numerous religious committees, Miss Henderson was nothing short of an inspirational and faithful Christian doing our Lord's work in Texas!
