After 11 years as a sports columnist at the Seattle Times, I have decided to resign. It was entirely my choice, and it was not an easy one. The impetus was the Times declining to run a column I wrote from the perspective of two female student athletes who were opposed to competing against biological males. It was one of several pieces of mine that had been spiked, and I no longer felt like I could properly do my job as a columnist. I lay out the situation in greater detail in the link below, but I want to say that I enjoyed my time with the paper, find the talent there to be immense, and have no animosity toward anyone who works there. It was just time for a change.

I know that was difficult for you as I watched. And our hearts broke in two. Charlie was the kind and gentle debater. I was in awe of how he handled the liberals with their opposing beliefs. I can’t believe I just had to announce on live TV the death of a friend. I can’t believe this is where we are in America.

Charlie was a man of God. A Christian. A Patriot. A family man. A husband and father. And a really good man.

Everyone, everyone counted him as a friend. That’s because in a business of narcissism and competition Charlie supported everyone. He texted, he DM’d, he called, he cheered you on and complimented your work.

Charlie was also a legendary influence. Most notably on young people. College kids on gameday kickoff and my own kids asked if I knew Charlie Kirk. He won over a generation.

He also counted Americas leaders as his friends. I know.

Charlie was incredibly persuasive and an unparalleled debater. He engaged and invited those who thought him wrong. Even those that thought him evil.

It says something real that the only rebuttal to stop Charlie was violence. But it won’t stop Charlie. Because it won’t stop us. You just lifted up Charlie.

DISGUSTING:

During the @TMZ livestream today, employees at TMZ could be heard CHEERING 30 seconds before @charliekirk11’s death was announced on the TMZ livestream. They were happy to hear the news of Charlie Kirk’s death and can be heard clapping and cheering before passing the news to Harvey Levin, who was hosting the stream.

@HarveyLevinTMZ needs to condemn this.

I have clipped the livestream before they try to delete it.

Shameful and disgusting behavior by TMZ. Shame on them. Charlie is a husband and a father. He was murdered in cold blood.
