With respect to the potential Inoue/Bam fight:
Bam tends to be an angle-making, forward-moving, power-punching fighter, how does he do if Inoue is the one applying constant pressure for 12 rounds? Can Bam be as effective along the perimeter of the ring both defensively and offensively?
@GreatChefBoxing@HealthWealth049 Nothing. That's pretty much all that must be said. It's just that boxing conversation tends to be a bit underwhelming in the sense that we, as fans, focus on just a competition of fighter flaws when analyzing a matchup.
"Discourse on social media is rarely structured and there are no agreed-upon rules of debate unless they’re explicitly established beforehand". Well, even outside social media one does not typically state any rules of conversation nor one should be expected to do so.
However, that does not validate a response to a boxing take with just irrelevant claims and not address the point at hand.
Do you personally view those points as relevant to angle creation? If so, how? Of course, it's related to the overall matchup as is lots of other variables from both combatants.
Okay, in that case, Cardenas had better instincts than Inoue in that moment and same with Nery. In those exchanges an angle advantage was not in favor of Inoue. Now, if you have analyzed that Bam won't be able to have good instincts or have the ability against Inoue to create an angle because X, Y, and Z, that's great. But, bringing up Bam's jaw being broken or being dropped and any material of that nature, is irrelevant to the point at hand and it simply ruins any cohesive boxing conversation.
Also the right hand dropped him once officially and assuming the other times were wrongfully uncalled, was Bam severely hurt? Analysis is not black and white. Every knockdown is not the same. Again, the original comment was regarding angles. One could argue that Inoue will keep Bam at the distance and let's say, body shots, to make Bam more stationary.
Cardenas created the foot positioning advantage and then launched a left hook as Inoue was squared up in a rather defenseless position. If you believe that was just a "closed his eyes nuke", then that means it was instinctual. Just because something was instinctual doesn't mean it was wasn't set up perfectly.
Inoue got dropped against Nery because he threw a punch while not being in a stable position. Nery took advantage of that.
What happened to Bam? He got dropped against Estrada (flash knockdown), got up immediately and dominated. Dominated like Inoue does after getting dropped. Also is Cardenas far higher competition than the greats that Bam defeated (even if past their prime)? Far less competition should be in respect to the weight class in which the fight was fought in.
@GreatChefBoxing@HealthWealth049 The commentator pointed out angles as a potential weakness for Inoue. Punch power, punch resistance was not the point nor an underyling point. It is not about what's worse.
Bam may not be able to take Inoue's power. However, Bam was not dropped in the same fashion (both in severity and setup). The original comment was in regard to angles and used an example of Inoue getting dropped and hurt off an angle. Pointing out that Bam was dropped by Estrada and those "missed calls" is irrelevant to the point made.
