Arizona’s skilled workforce is being pushed aside in favor of cheap foreign labor. Is this Build American? @POTUS@SenMarkKelly @RepRubenGallego @RepGregStanton
UA members are trained on advanced processes & have experience building chip facilities all over the US, but are being replaced by cheap foreign labor. @POTUS@SenMarkKelly @RepRubenGallego @gregstantonaz#buildamerican
Chip titan TSMC claims environmental and labor standards make it unprofitable to build in America.
“They’re completely positioning,” says researcher @toddachilles. “They’re trying to grind out all the costs they can.”

"Randy Keating, the council member spearheading the #Tempe effort, said the city has hired a consultant to evaluate the financial effects of a prevailing wage and expects the council to take a vote by the end of the year."
Phoenix, led by Democratic mayor Kate Gallego, used state law as an excuse to kill a prevailing wage ordinance.
Now, state Attorney General Kris Mayes said cities, counties and towns are free to pass the regulation.
What's the excuse now?
NEW: Ariz. attorney general opinion backs prevailing wage 2 months after Phoenix repeals ordinance… My story’s got all the background and explanation of Mayes’ opinion. https://t.co/u2Wi7GrW3I via @azcentral
ICYMI: AZ Attorney General @krismayes just released her opinion on Arizona cities enacting a prevailing wage ordinance.
Labor workers deserve to be compensated for their work. For years, I have consistently supported and pushed for prevailing wage — and I will continue to do so.
Serving on Tempe City Council, I heard continual, uninformed pushback on passing a prevailing wage for workers in the building trades. Thank you, AZ Attorney General @krismayes, for your just-released opinion. Boom. Get busy, AZ cities, & pass prevailing wage ordinances pronto!
.@AZAGMayes’s opinion is clear: cities may enact a prevailing wage ordinance to ensure that workers are paid fairly and competitively.
I look forward to voting YES (again) for a strong Phoenix policy by the end of this year.
Tempe needs to *finally* pass a prevailing wage law. The fact that the majority of the council members publicly expressed support for passing a prevailing wage law for the city while campaigning, but failed to act on it once in office is utterly embarrassing.
Our @NABTU conference delegation was honored to meet with @RepRubenGallego to talk about issues important to our members & their families. Thank you for supporting registered apprenticeship programs, quality job creation, safe job sites & responsible economic development.
Our @NABTU delegation had a great conversation with @RepGregStanton about policies that create quality jobs for skilled tradespersons, promote gold-standard training programs, and provide economic opportunities for working families.
Thank you @SenMarkKelly for meeting with our delegation to the @NABTU conference. We appreciate your commitment to quality jobs for skilled tradespersons, economic growth that helps working families & apprenticeship programs that train future generations of AZ workers.
Prevailing wage passes in historic 5–4 vote at City of Phoenix! This was long overdue. Thank you Councilmembers Pastor, Garcia, Guardado, Ansari and DiCiccio for standing up to support us in the War against Workers! #WorkingFamilies
