What started as one intentional idea has become a growing movement across Ontario.

When @OLTCAnews launched the first LTC Community Engagement Day, the goal was simple: open our doors, strengthen relationships and help communities better understand life inside LTC homes.

In just two years, participation has grown from a small group of homes into a provincewide movement that brings together the whole long-term care sector from residents, families, staff, local leaders to neighbours. All of us around one shared purpose: building stronger connections to long-term care.

Last year, nearly 200 LTC homes participated. Homes welcomed MPPs, MPs, mayors, students, volunteers and community partners into spaces filled with storytelling, music, shared meals and meaningful conversations.

In September for LTC Engagement Day, Nithview took part in @KWpanda "Belong Together" project. We painted puzzle pieces to form one tessellation. Now we have the finished piece on display in our auditorium, a beautiful reminder that we all belong together. #TCMH @OLTCAnews

Building new long-term care homes strengthens communities and local economies.

In New Hamburg, construction of the new Nithview long-term care home is generating $91.9 million in GDP and $60.4 million in labour income — supporting local jobs, trades, and economic growth.

When complete, this home will offer 160 modern spaces — not just a building, but a place of care, compassion, dignity — a true place to call home.

Because aging in place should mean aging in your community, surrounded by the people and places you know and love.
