He recently wrapped up his time as a TCOLE commissioner after serving for the last 12 years. We thank and wish him all the best in this next chapter.
May 15 is designated as National Peace Officers Memorial Day, which pays tribute law enforcement officers who have bravely sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. Their legacy will always be remembered, and we extend our gratitude to these individuals and their families.

The 2026 Texas Peace Officers' Memorial Ceremony & Candlelight Vigil took place last night, featuring an honor guard procession along Congress Avenue leading to the Memorial Monument on the Capitol Grounds, where the names of our Fallen Texas Peace Officers are forever honored.
Thank you to Governor Greg Abbott for serving as the keynote speaker for last night's Texas Peace Officers' Memorial.
Hundreds of law enforcement professionals and family members came together to honor their fallen officers and pay their respects to the thin blue line.
Join us this evening for the Texas Peace Officers' Memorial as we honor the lives of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
We will be honoring 25 officers who lost their life in the line of duty. Additionally, we will remember five historically fallen officers.

The award honors trailblazing female police executives who demonstrate extraordinary leadership, innovation, and influence.
Recently, Governor Greg Abbott appointed David Criner, Jason Griffin, and Rita Watkins, Ed.D. to the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement for terms set to expire on August 30, 2031.
