Big news for student musicians in Tuscaloosa City Schools!

Thanks to the Morgan Wallen Foundation’s 2026 Tour Give Back Program, @emsstampede, @oakdaleelement and @TASPA_TCS will receive more than $65,000 in musical instruments. The donation includes a variety of instruments, from clarinets and trombones to xylophones, a vibraphone and more, helping expand opportunities for students to learn, perform and grow through music.

We are grateful to the Morgan Wallen Foundation for investing in the arts and supporting music education in our schools.

No child should go hungry this summer!

The Tuscaloosa City Schools will offer free breakfast and lunch for all children 18 and under from June 1-26 at meal sites across the community.

Breakfast: 7:30-8 a.m.
Lunch: 10:30 a.m.-12 noon
Multiple TCS locations across Tuscaloosa
Closed June 19 for Juneteenth

Children must be present, and meals must be eaten on site.

Congratulations to Candice Sparks on being named the next principal of @RockQuarryElem!

A familiar face to the Rock Quarry community, Sparks has served as assistant principal since 2020 and brings 14 years of experience in education to her new role. She succeeds longtime principal Laura Jockisch, whose leadership helped Rock Quarry earn recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School and one of Alabama’s top elementary schools.

We are excited for the future of Rock Quarry under Mrs. Sparks’ leadership and look forward to the continued excellence, growth, and success ahead for the school community.

At Educator Connect Day, Tuscaloosa City Schools welcomed education majors and certified teachers for an exciting opportunity to interview with school leaders from across the district. The event gave candidates the chance to connect directly with administrators, explore opportunities, and take the next step toward joining the TCS family.

One unforgettable moment came when Woodland Forrest Elementary School surprised a standout candidate Hannah Ford with a Golden Ticket — an on-the-spot job offer! After recently being approved by the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education, this talented educator officially became the newest member of the @WoodlandForrest team.

NOTICE

According to the Alabama Administrative Code r.290-8-9-8 (2) (h) an education agency must retain a copy of records for five (5) years after the termination of the special education program for which they were used.  At the end of the five (5) year retention period, the education agency shall provide written notice to parents to inform them that the special education records are no longer needed and will be destroyed.

This serves as notice that the destruction of special education and gifted records belonging to students born with the birth year 2000.  Legal guardian, or former student if age 19 or older, must pick up the records at the central office located at 1210 Almon Avenue, Tuscaloosa, AL, or notify the Tuscaloosa City Schools, within 10 days from the date of this publication. Huge shoutout to the incredible Tuscaloosa City Schools Transportation Department for the outstanding work behind the scenes during graduation ceremonies at Coleman Coliseum on Monday, May 11.

Coordinating transportation for students across multiple schools is no small task, but this team ensured buses arrived safely, efficiently, and right on schedule. Through constant communication, careful coordination, and real-time tracking, every transition ran smoothly and helped make graduation day a success for our students and families.

On Monday, more than 700 students crossed the stage as graduates of Tuscaloosa City Schools — and for more than 40 of those graduates, the moment was even more special because their parents are part of the TCS family, too. ❤️🎓

From classrooms to cafeterias, buses to central office, our employees pour into TCS every day. This week, we celebrated not only their work, but also the incredible accomplishments of their children. Congratulations to the Class of 2026 and to the TCS families celebrating this milestone together!
