Ces accords créeraient de nouvelles occasions pour les entreprises canadiennes, renforceraient les chaînes d’approvisionnement et soutiendraient la croissance à long terme des deux côtés du Pacifique.

Trade between Canada and the Philippines is picking up momentum with trade in services up by 20% last year. A free trade agreement with the Philippines and ASEAN partners will help facilitate additional growth.

Alongside Minister @rechievaldez, we met Secretary Go, the Philippines Finance Minister @dofgovph, and Secretary Cristina Roque, the Philippines’ Secretary of Trade and Industry @DtiPhilippines, to discuss how we can keep building on the momentum of our growing economic relationship, including through the ASEAN-Canada Free Trade Agreement and a future Canada-Philippines Free Trade Agreement.

These agreements would create new opportunities for Canadian businesses, strengthen supply chains, and support long-term growth on both sides of the Pacific.

The Makati Business Club represents 400 of the Philippines largest corporations and brings together senior executives from some of the Philippines’ largest and most influential companies, making it an important forum for advancing trade, investment, and economic partnerships.

Alongside Minister Valdez, I spoke with business leaders about the opportunities ahead for Canada and the Philippines, including through the ASEAN-Canada Free Trade Agreement and a future Canada-Philippines Free Trade Agreement. With bilateral trade in goods and services reaching $6.6 billion in 2025, Canada is focused on opening new doors for Canadian businesses and building a stronger commercial relationship in the Indo-Pacific.
