@DrewSav@peterawolf Rick Moranis did an impression of his OG comedy style on SCTV that nailed Carlin so astutely that he immediately changed up his entire routine and persona thereafter.

@DrewSav Still my favorite bit post-9/11 bit of hysteria. Even the smallest bit of "Hey, wait. How..." reflection on it would reveal its absurdity, but people were READY to believe the Taliban had a secret HQ that resembled a Bond villains', or a He-Man playset for Skeletor.
@umichvoter There's something about that level of desperate. It goes from being pitiable, to sort of flattering, to being amusing that anyone is so desperate yet unaware of how it looks, to curious to see how much longer they'll continue, then finally back to pitiable before they're blocked.
@DrewSav Most stupifying part about this film: It wasn't released in the 50s or 60s where yellowface was more common. Not in the 70s when nostalgic throwbacks made that kind of thing "kitsch" (see: Murder by Death). It was released in 1981! And distrib'd by United Artists internationally!
Incredible artifact on display at the new @Center4Politics - the suit that Michael Dukakis wore in the infamous tank photo from the 1988 campaign
(You can see it at our open house 11-3 tomorrow)
@District97 Sorry, I don't really have the room. I have a bunch of other people's collections of the time period you describe. Unless you have MST Hours or the complete 1994 Turkey Day Marathon, or some other oddities. Shoot me a DM if you do and we'll talk.
Did a detailed write-up on the K03 Tape and it's provenance (hint: it came straight from MST3K's production company):

A genuine piece of MST3K history in my hands.
The label UNDER the label confirms it. Its a tape straight out of BBI's vault from the early-mid-90's (see 4th pic for reference).
Uploading a new MST3K Broadcast Edition, should be up tomorrow. In the meantime, here's a promo that was in the recording for 606-The Creeping Terror that I'd never seen before.
Yes, that music will now be stuck in your head, too.
