Hi everyone! Now that my concert season is underway, with performances this month with the @utahsymphony, @osmconcerts, and @natsymphonydc, it's a good time to get reacquainted.
Sometimes when I’m feeling low, I roll through my contacts and remind my friends of why I love them. Quick text, call…whatever.
Strangely, it seems that complimenting others can often pull me out of depressed heart space. Fully recommend it.
Andrew Peterson has a new book! It’s called The God of the Garden, it releases on October 26th, and pre-orders are officially open through the Rabbit Room Store: https://t.co/o7FkDxeBrl
First proper Master's jury: ✅ (fall was recorded from home)
Tchaikovsky Concerto in D major, 2nd then 1st mvt.
Couldn't have asked for it to go better at this stage of my learning, and it was EXHILARATING to perform it.
Also everything is shaky now haha nerves are shot
Update: Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
I was brave and emailed to ask for an extension with partial credit (better than failing totally).
The professor offered to give me an incomplete, which gives me a year to finish the project. (will get it done asap ofc but)
😭
I've been a straight A student in the entirety of college (though sometimes barely) and all of a sudden I'm almost definitely failing a class this semester and--
Why did it have to be at grad school, when it matters so much more?
Back to work. See if I can salvage anything.
Simon Armitage has managed to have his poetic cake and eat it - do his poet laureate job and write a royal elegy but it isn’t really, it stands alone as a beautiful lament to a generation.
And there was so much joy and heart in it all... A passionate Haydn quartet in the garden, a melancholy Swan late at night, a jazzy gentlemen's duet with trumpeter and pianist too, heard in full.
Don't mind me, I'm having all the feels.
Watched this today and it was so lovely. Friendship, classical music, and the struggles and dignity of old age.
A thousand bonus points because the plot of the movie was literally what they accomplished by making the movie.
PG-13 for some language and a risque character.
The film was full of music, every moment an excuse to hear someone sing or play. A main character might walk on the grounds and find the clarinetist or a string quartet rehearsing. Singers prepared a chorus together and practiced duets. The pianist gave a lesson to a young girl.
