Book mail. Todayβs books are The Proper Study of Mankind by Isaiah Berlin and Stomping the Blues by Albert Murray. I look forward to reading these books.
Iβve only read 25 pages of this absorbing book, but Iβm compelled to start reading it start to finish. One of the notable biographies of Abraham Lincoln to be mentioned and recommended.
Today marks 57 years since the Stonewall Riots, the protests which called for the fight for LGBTQ rights, took place on June 28, 1969. Progress has been made since then, but the struggle for LGBTQ rights is still ongoing.
I enjoyed revisiting this book. James and the Giant Peach is one of my favorite Dahl books Iβve read as a kid. Short and easy to read through. Right amount of charm, adventure, fright, peril, and fun for kids and adults.
On this day in 1949, George Orwellβs 1984 was published. The novel continues to spark intrigue and debate about its themes of censorship, totalitarianism, and historical revisionism (Doublethink, thoughtcrime, doublespeak).
I've recently started reading George Orwell's Homage to Catalonia. A riveting account of Orwell's time as a reporter and soldier during Spain's Civil War of 1936-37.
