Dr. Tite Tiénou, the Tite Tiénou Chair of Global Theology and World Christianity, Research Professor of Theology of Mission, and Dean Emeritus of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (TEDS), received the honorific title of Chevalier de l'Ordre de l'Étalon from the government of Burkina Faso in April 2025.

Dr. Tiénou received this distinguished honor alongside four members of the Christian and Missionary Alliance of Burkina Faso.

“Dr. Tienou is widely recognized as one of evangelicalism's leading theologians and missiologists whose influence spans the globe,” says Dr. Craig Ott, Professor of Mission and Intercultural Studies at TEDS. “It is most fitting that his country of origin has honored him with this significant award.”

The title, which translates to “Knight of the Order of the Stallion,” is the highest honorary distinction in Burkina Faso. The award recognizes personal merit and eminent civil or military service to the nation, according to the website for the Grand Chancellery of the Burkinabe Orders.

Dr. David Pao, Dean and Professor of New Testament at TEDS, said, “Dr. Tite Tiénou is a distinguished global theologian whose influence extends well beyond the academy. This honor further affirms his vital contributions in the public square. TEDS is proud to count Dr. Tiénou among our own.”

Tomorrow we will celebrate our final Convocation at our Bannockburn campus, before our move to @TrinityWestern. Whether you attend in person or via livestream, your presence will mean a great deal to us.

https://t.co/v0C4EAyYkX

At Trinity, Convocation is our annual chapel service to begin the academic year together. It is a special time of celebration for our community where we gather in worship, remember God's faithfulness, and ask God's blessing on our shared mission for the coming academic year. We invite you to join your Trinity community in praise, worship, thanksgiving, and prayer as we acknowledge our dependence on Christ and seek his blessings and mercy for the new academic year.

"Christians should be wary: the privileging of an individual’s perspective is itself a feature of postmodernity." Read the full article by TEDS Professor of New Testament Stephen M. Bryan.

When Christians use terms such as “deconstruction,” they risk endorsing a secular conception of what is happening when a person leaves the faith.

In May, students and professors from our PhD in Intercultural Studies program gathered at Dr. David M. Gustafson's home for a Spring picnic.

At TEDS, PhD students get to know their professors personally as they are trained for the work that God is calling them to do.

This week, we completed another Thriving Immigrant Congregations Initiative (TICI) Learning Community Gathering. In God's grace, we had another fruitful time of learning and fellowship, focusing on the theme of "Becoming Missional Immigrant Churches." This time, we had several leaders from different denominations, including the EFCA, immigrant church networks, and four Australian immigrant church leaders. @TheEFCA #church #ministry #gospel

The gospel is subversive, even in polarized times. Leading is a challenge right now, but there is also a massive opportunity for the light of Christ to break through darkness.
