What a way to wrap up Women’s month!
I was honored to moderate a session organized by @@usembassytz that unveiled the nature of the creative industry in Tanzania, particularly for women artists.
🤔So we can ask ourselves was this the first fintech startup in Tanzania?
In the first week of its launch got 2000 customers, insane😅 right?At the time, the average account size was 16,000/= That is roughly 32,000,000/= average transactions in a week.
So what happened to it ?
🤯MPESA wasn't the first mobile money product in Tanzania. E-Fulusi Africa launched MobiPawa in early 2008, followed by Mpesa in April 2008. In 2 years, the other MNOs launched similar products. Airtel, Tigo and Zantel.
