Trans Emergency Fund

Since 2008, the Transgender Emergency Fund of Massachusetts has been providing critical assistance to low-income transgender people in MA.

November 20th is Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), a day for communities and survivors to come together and remember those individuals who have lost their lives to senseless violence.

TDOR was founded by transgender advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith in memory of Rita Hester, who was murdered in 1998 in Suffolk County. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Rita’s death. Since 1999, TDOR has been recognized annually worldwide to raise awareness on anti-transgender hate crimes and violence.
