Euan Blair, CEO and founder of Multiverse, and former Prime Minister Tony Blair's son, says there's been a lack of political will and ambition to make genuine, far-reaching education reforms.
Things we know:
- Upskilling the workforce in data and AI.
Things we don’t know:
- How to do a brilliant job hosting a comedy quiz show.
- How to build a digital ID system.
Many thanks for the speedy correction.
Viral social media posts have claimed that Multiverse, a company founded by the son of former Labour PM Sir Tony Blair, has been chosen to run the new digital ID scheme.
This isn’t true, according to both the company and the government. https://t.co/N3qe1eDndL
On BBC Radio 4’s #PM programme, we are going to be looking whether we are preparing people for how AI will change the workforce.
Euan Blair, founder of the business Multiverse, tells @EvanHD that it is “a way of giving people superpowers”.
@jamespriceglos Maybe, but hope springs eternal.
For me that comparison doesn’t really work. Falklands and Gibraltar have residents whose wishes must be listened to. If they are worried they could always ask residents of BIOT…oh wait…
Gnashing of teeth from Conservative leadership candidates about BIOT is inevitable…but more important question is whether new Government is/was able to use it to unlock anything more material to our national interest.
If the new Foreign Sec can use the change in status to materially advance our other interests through UN / Regional players, I think: worth it
If they can’t + use it to trade political points with the opposition about values / colonialism, then the Tory candidates won’t be wrong
Whether the legal rights to some islands a v long way from us (and, incidentally, Mauritius) are worth it for:
- the bullshit of constantly defending those rights
- the ill will it creates and consequences to discussions about what ‘really’ matters: trade/growth, Ukraine, etc
Not just blowing smoke for the sake of it: Matt's show has been a bright spark in political coverage (too often dominated by po-faced duos).
Here's hoping the BBC don't put the boring bits back in.
Welcome to Anna, Kerry and the team at @searchlight_ai who join Multiverse this week! 🙌

Long time @virginmedia broadband customer. Have twice (TWICE) tried to move my mobile phone contract to them on an offer they marketed to me. Each time, received confirmation emails. Each time, never received the SIM. And I've cancelled my contract with my previous provider...
@virginmedia Btw I was on Whatsapp to your team through today and they tried to process the order for a third time, and it failed again. Complaint reference: C-080224636, if it helps.
@virginmedia yeah the problem is, I'm not yet a mobile customer. I'm a Broadband customer who has placed an order, which is being handled by O2, but appears never to have been received by them. So I get handed from one to the other.
